Skateboarders from across the country and fans of the sport descend on Colorado Springs for one of the country's best races.
Are you looking for things to do in Colorado Springs that will appeal to your sense of adventure? Plan your trip for September 12 to 13 when the Pikes Peak Downhill Skateboard Invitational hits town. Some of the best skateboarders, knowledgeable experts and die-hard fans will be on hand to watch the event in person.
This amazing race takes place on Pikes Peak Highway, the same road you drive when heading into town. The city closes down a 1.5-mile portion of the highway to give the racers all the space they need to navigate the twists and turns that might make some a little weak in the knees. A few of the racers will even reach speeds of more than 50 miles per hour! You can see all the action for yourself from the first heat to the last race of the day live.
Skateboarders in Colorado Springs and from around the world will be ready to hit the highway and walk away with a win. As one of the biggest events in Colorado Springs, the race is the perfect time to visit town. You can have fun getting to know other skateboarding fans, exploring the city and watching the races, and you may even have the chance to meet some of the competitors in person.
